Moyock, NC: June 14, 2014 – Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) and ACADEMI Corporation announce the successful completion of the 3rd Annual HAVA / ACADEMI National Family Day on Saturday June 7, 2014 at the 7,000-acre ACADEMI training center in Moyock, NC. Featuring the participation of nearly 200 veterans and spouses, and over 100 of their children, the event was a spectacular day of 3-gun shooting stages, a newly added cross-bow stage, airsoft and a bounce house for kids, gift bags, great food, fun, a shooting exhibition, and prizes for all attendees. Each shooter competed for fun prizes and recognition, 25 veterans won valuable raffle prizes featuring 14 guns (and a cross-bow), and each of the 100+ kids went home a winner from an extensive prize table.

“This was truly a complete family day for these American heroes, spouses, care givers and their kids,” said Tom Taylor, HAVA Chairman. “We served over 50 percent more spouses and children than last year, and had numerous families come back for their second or third year. What a privilege it is for HAVA volunteers and our entire industry to be a part of these events that say thank you to the disabled veterans and injured active duty military who have served our nation so valiantly.”

ACADEMI CEO Craig Nixon, himself a retired Brigadier General and combat veteran added, “The HAVA/ACADEMI partnership is a statement of support for these dedicated veterans, and ACADEMI is proud to host such a prestigious event each year at our flagship North Carolina facility. The HAVA team and over 100 volunteers from the ACADEMI staff worked tirelessly for months to make this happen. HAVA and ACADEMI salute each military family’s contribution to preserving our freedom and we will continue to do what we can to help them when they return home to the country for which they fought so bravely.”
